Each week I will be focusing on one of the 30 NBA teams and how that individual team’s dynamic is similar to improv and will cite examples from my own experience in that world. I will try to give correlations between individual players but also to how those individuals connect together to form a cohesive whole. There will also be quite of bit of who those players are as human beings and what their road to this stage in development means not only to the team but to themselves.
This week is the Chicago Bulls. Next week will be the Golden State Warriors.

I love long-form improvisation. No, it’s true! I’m sure you couldn’t tell from the dozens of references to it on this site. But I also love professional basketball, specifically, the National Basketball Association or NBA.

For those of you who know me (and why wouldn't you? Would you be reading this otherwise?), I've made this point clear before, but just to be safe, I'll put it in writing.
I despise "reality" television.
It encourages, promotes and rewards the absolute worst in people, and to quote Bill Hicks, it makes the rest of us deal with "these fevered egos that are tainting our collective consciousness and making us pay a higher psychic price than we ever dreamed imaginable."

Friday, August 21st, the annual Del Close Awards were held at iOWest.
The Del Close Awards are basically iOWest’s version of the Oscars. Some of it is silly and a lot of it is not meant to be taken seriously but mostly it is an opportunity for this wonderful community to come together and show appreciation for others work......| Permalink | Comment |
